Partner and Founder
Ken sees woodworking as more than a business – he wants to make an impact. His goal is to craft pieces with quality, design and customization not found in any store and to create each piece with as much care as his first. He wants to make his father and grandfather proud of the legacy they left behind and create a long-lasting legacy for his daughter.
Ken was raised in Oregon and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He joined family in Las Vegas, arriving by bus in December 1997 with $42 in his pocket. Prior to his arrival, Ken took a woodworking class and continued that education after inheriting the wood shop from his father.
In his spare time, Ken enjoys camping and any outdoor activity with his wife, daughter and two dogs.
Eric Carr brings more than 20 years in the construction, design and materials knowledge to Legacy Woodworking and Design. Prior to becoming partner, Eric was the senior project manager in MC², Las Vegas division, where he was in charge of the oversight of permanent marketing environments, including corporate presentations and briefing centers, museums and retail environments.
From an early age he had the desire to design and build custom, one-of-a-kind furniture. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and over the years has worked as an exhibit designer for ExhibitGroup/Giltspur and Nimlok.
Eric and business partner Ken Beck met 10 years ago while creating floats for their neighborhood elementary school’s annual trunk-or-treat event. They proudly earned first place both years they participated.
Eric is married with two sons and two dogs – all of which he enjoys spoiling. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and attending concerts with his wife. Together, they have seen more than 250 unique acts over the last 20 years and plan to keep rocking well into their gray-haired years.
At 4 years old, Ken Beck used to sweep his maternal grandfather’s wood shop for four quarters while he made violins by hand. In 2012, Ken inherited a wood shop from his father, who passed away from cancer long before he was able to fully put the shop to work. The first piece Ken built was his father’s urn.
In December 2016, Ken officially created Legacy Woodworking and Design and opened a shop online on Etsy.com.
In 2019, Ken joined forces with Eric Carr in order to take Legacy out of the home garage and into a shop of their own. They moved into their new shop space in April 2019.
